A piece this great, its power strikes straight through the listeners regardless how the orchestra performed. A piece this great, worth being performed even poorly.
The magic of a live performance of such a work can never be replaced or captured by recordings.
Sitting in the auditorium and breathing silently after the very last Db vanished in the dim light; feeling frozen and still whilst the tears falling into eternity after overwhelmed by the maestro's spirit; what else more could one possibly ask for after the final movement of Mahler 9th?
